Rani Boyle - Project Manager

Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, Rani moved to Portland in 2007.
 After completing an internship at the Portland Development Commission, she accepted a graduate assistantship at Portland State University's office of Housing and Transportation Services. In that capacity, she studies the transportation behaviors of students and staff members, and works on a variety of campus planning activities. She's made her home in the Woodlawn neighborhood of NE Portland.

Leah Hyman - Policy Analyst & Community Liaison

Leah has lived in Portland since 1991. She lives in the Kenton neighborhood in North Portland. Leah is currently employed with the SE Uplift Neighborhood Coalition as the Neighborhood Land Use Program Manager. Prior to SE Uplift, Leah worked for five years in private sector development as a land use planning technician on development projects, taking clients through the entitlement process of various jurisdictions in the area. Leah also serves as a volunteer on the Regulatory Improvement Stakeholder Advisory Team for the City of Portland, which reviews code changes for the city. She is currently focusing her studies in Regional Economic Development. In her free time, Leah enjoys walking her dog Judy, hiking, cooking, gardening and continued exploration of Portland and the surrounding metropolitan area. 

Al Klein - Data Analyst / Map Wizard

B.A. Environmental Science & Psychology from Notre Dame

Al provides a technical background to the group with an emphasis in geographic modeling and data analysis.  He is currently employed with Watershed Sciences, a company specializing in the production of 3D mapping and digital landscape imaging. Additionally, he interns at Fregonese Associates planning firm as technical support for its Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Al relocated to Portland just over two years ago and resides in the HAND neighborhood. Although relatively new to the city, he has been active with the neighborhood association and has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in the greater southeast area. He enjoys a friendly game of frisbee and is an avid walker. 

Emily Lieb - Documents & Media

An Ohio native, Emily has lived in Portland since 2003 and currently resides in NE Portland. She has worked for the City of Portland in several capacities over the past three years, including stints at Portland Parks & Recreation, the Portland Bureau of Transportation, and the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability. She currently works as an associate planner for Portland State University, where she focuses on housing and transportation efforts supporting sustainability at PSU.
Emily grew up at the end of a long gravel road. She vividly remembers the feeling of her forehead vibrating on the window of the school-bus, the day her shoelaces got caught in her bicycle gears and she skidded across the gravel skinning her knees, and the way you could hear a car coming up the road from a mile away.

Katie E. Lynd - Outreach

Katie is a resident of the Richmond Neighborhood of SE Portland, where she enjoys the proximity to entertainment, outdoor recreation, and local businesses. Prior to living in Richmond, Katie migrated from her hometown of Helena, Montana to the Pacific Coast and made her way down. She moved from Bellingham, Washington to Seattle and ended up in the Rose City. Katie has worked for a number of years in the field of sustainability education and outreach, on both programming and instruction, as well as planning. She also has a strong background in environmental issues such as water management studies and has worked on stormwater mitigation projects as well as reclaimed water development for wastewater utilities. Currently, Katie works as Metro's Recycle at School Coordinator to help reduce their solid waste streams, energy use, and enhance a culture of environmental and social responsibility.
